The work above appears in the
2017 A Timeless Legacy
exhibit and sale.
Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey began her painting career 40 years ago, working predominantly in watercolor. Later, Nancy discovered the color and vibrancy of dye on silk and quickly adapted her years of water media to express her current work. She is a colorist with a strong sense of design whether creating a signature western piece, a colorful floral or vibrant wildlife art.
“My paintings are spirited; a full banquet of color and expression that encourages the viewer to embrace all that is beautiful. I love the fluidity of ‘alla prima’ painting on silk, using both vibrant and subtle color passages.”
Nancy’s work has been included in invitational art shows across the West. They include the Western Masters Show and Sale, the C.M. Russell Museum Auction, the Wild 100 at the National Museum of Wildlife Art, the Phippen Museum, the Buffalo Bill Art Show, the Gilcrease Museum, National Cowboy Museum. She is a founding member of the Russell Skull Society of Artists and was the featured artist of the 2014 Fall Arts Festival in Jackson, Wyoming.
“I like strength and statement in my work; I can only guide these paintings - the medium itself defies control and I like that. For me, it’s the jazz of painting.”
She is represented by several galleries across America.
