Krystii Melaine announced at age four that she would be an artist, studied painting, drawing and graphic design at University, then developed her own fashion design company into one of the largest in Australia. But her lifelong passion for painting drew her back to study traditional tonal realism for five years, focusing on portraiture and still life. Finding inspiration in the American west, Krystii moved to Spokane, Washington in 2010 after ten years of regular research trips from Australia.
Krystii is currently immersed in an artistic exploration of Native American people and those who shaped the history of the West. Painterly portraits capture their lives and dreams, expressed in rich colors and tones where realism dissolves into mystery, inviting wonder and imagination. Exhibiting in several major museum shows annually, her paintings are held in six museum collections and many private collections world-wide. Numerous major awards attest to the quality of her work.
