Beau Theige's Guitars

On Exhibit: August 2 to September 28, 2019

 Opening Reception: Thursday, August 1, 5:00 - 7:00 PM

I am a husband, father, and hobby rancher on the windswept plains of North Dakota. Although I am not a guitar player myself, I was instantly intrigued by this varied and unique craft, and thus the journey began.

While I spend my days in the oil fields outside Boomtown, USA, my nights and weekends are spent crafting Beau Theige Custom Guitars. If you want to get trendy, it's called "upcycling."

Each is handcrafted, inspired by everyday utilitarian objects, antiques, or plain old junk. Half art, half instrument,  that's the fun part, folks: You never can tell what I'll end up with.  Join me for the ride, and let's see what we can come up with next!

- Beau Theige,

Beau Theige’s Guitars, sponsored by the North Dakota Art Gallery Association, is an exhibit for music enthusiasts, artists and recyclers alike.

Beau Theige, a North Dakota rancher and oil worker, discovered the varied and unique craft of creating hand-made guitars.  His artistic flourish was to create beautiful functional instruments from discarded objects.

Each of Theige’s guitars is handcrafted, “upcycled” from everyday utilitarian objects, antiques, or plain old trash. And every guitar is playable: beautiful music from second-hand junk!
