Group Tours at the Hockaday Museum of Art
What’s a group?
To qualify as a group, your group must contain at least 5 people (not including the tour operator and bus driver, if applicable to your group).
What is the cost for group tours?
All group tours are led by a docent from the Museum. To receive group discount prices, you must schedule your tour in advance. For groups of 5 to 10 that have reserved guided tours, admission is $4 for adults and $3 for seniors. With groups of 10 or more that have reserved guided tours, admission is $3 for adults and $2 for seniors. Group tours of 10 or more also receive two complimentary admissions for the bus driver and tour operator. For an additional fee, hands-on creative art activities that correspond with our exhibits can be designed specifically for your group as part of your tour.
When are group tours available?
Tours are available during the Museum’s regular hours as tour guides are available. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday between 10 am and 5 pm from September to May and Monday through Saturday between 10 am and 6 pm and Sunday between 12 and 4 pm from June to August.
How do I arrange a group tour? Our tours are tailored to meet your specific needs, goals and interests. To make arrangements for your group to visit the Museum, contact the Director of Education at 406.755.5268 or education@hockadaymuseum.org.
You must make reservations at least two weeks in advance with the Education Department. This enables us to discuss arrangements with you and identify programs and schedules that best meet your needs. Groups without reservations will be charged the regular adult Museum admission fees and a docent guided tour may not be available.

What questions should I already have answered before I call/write to reserve a group tour?
What are your first and second choices for dates and times?
How many people are in your group?
What would you like the focus of the tour to be? (Either the Glacier National Park Permanent Exhibition Gallery, or the Museum’s rotating exhibits)
Does your group have any special needs you’d like us to know about?
Are you interested in hands-on art activities?
How long are group tours?
We generally recommend a 1 hour visit, though the length of your stay can vary with the size and interests of your group. Let us know if you’d like your group to have time to explore on their own or visit the Off the Wall Gift Gallery. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before your tour is scheduled to begin so that you will have time to check in at the Front Desk before your tour begins.
Can we eat there?
During nice weather, you are welcome to use the picnic tables located outside of the Museum. If the classroom is not reserved, it is also available for your group. Several restaurants and cafes are also located within walking distance of the Museum.
How will I know everything is confirmed for our visit?
We’ll send you a confirmation letter or e-mail after we schedule your tour with information about the museum and the exhibits, a map, and policies pertaining to cancellation.
