About the Exhibit
Wilkinson uses the romantic process of painting as a meditation on gender, identity construction and beauty. The exhibit relates to her interest in dichotomies: obscuring and revealing, attraction and repulsion, good and evil, the past and the present. The paintings are initially composed using a digital process and created using traditional methods and techniques borrowed from the old masters. The images are epic narratives that break from their original sources into fragments, creating a complex visual experience.
