On Saturday, August 13th, the Hockaday premiered an exhibition that set an entirely new standard for art in the Flathead Valley. The Museum was closed during regular hours on Friday and Saturday to prepare for the show, and then opened its doors at 5:30 PM on Saturday for an evening of music, premium food and wine, and extraordinary art sale opportunites.

On Tuesday, August 16th, the Hockaday reopened with A Timeless Legacy - Women Artists of Glacier National Park open to the general public.  Works in the exhibit remain for sale (see above for availability status).

History of the Sale Event
Up to three works created especially for this show from each of the 27 artists are on display through September 10.  Available in a variety of sizes, including miniatures, each of the pieces are priced for sale and were sold in a Luck of the Draw style. Buyers entered their name into drawing boxes for those pieces they were interested in purchasing. If more than one name was entered for a particular painting, a name was drawn at random and that person had 20 minutes to confirm the purchase before a second name was drawn.  It was an exciting evening of anticipation and jovial competition.

Gallery of Miniatures
A special gallery of miniatures is located in the Hockaday's Center Gallery through September 10.  Each of the 27 participating artists created a miniature piece (area less than 192 square inches). This small works offer a phenomenal opportunity for collectors and art lovers to obtain a work by a top-tier artist.

Support For Your Museum
In addition to being a thrilling exhibition featuring the landscapes, wildlife and indigenous peoples of Glacier National Park, the exhibition is a major fundraiser for the Hockaday. A portion of every sale will directly benefit the Museum. Proceeds from this sale will help build its art acquisition fund for Permanent Collection purchases, and enables it to continue its tradition of bringing world-class art and cultural exhibitions to the Flathead Valley.
