About the Exhibit

Shapes are sneaky. Although they can be found in any object, shapes are only two-dimensional. They have only length and width. Any time you enclose a space by connecting a line you create a shape. In artworks, you can also create them by changes in color, space, or light. Some shapes are geometric and have names such as circle, square, or triangle. Organic shapes which are irregular and free-form often suggest things from the natural world, like plants and animals. This exhibition celebrates all the ways chapes are found in art.

Kindergarten through eighth grade students or their teachers may submit art. Artwork must have been created August 2020 – February 2021. Limit of one entry per person.

Please give each work of art a title. It is suggested that two-dimensional art be mounted on or matted with colored construction paper; it must be unframed, flat, and no larger than 12”x18”.  Three-dimensional art will be accepted as exhibit space allows.

Contact Kathy Martin, Director of Education, at 755-5268 or e-mail with any questions about art for this exhibition.

Pieces selected for display will be determined by how well they represent the theme, the quality of work, and available gallery space.   In order to help us create the best collection of art work possible, we ask teachers to make a pre-selection of entries they submit .

All artwork must be accompanied by a completed entry form and delivered to the Museum located at 302 Second Avenue East, Kalispell, MTEntries will be accepted February 2-20, 2021. Museum Hours are 11 am to 3 pm Tuesday – Saturday, 10 am – 3 pm Wednesday.
